Do we know the success rate of the Monolith?
Y'know? I don’t actually know if people have done in-depth datamining & de-obfuscating for the inner workings of “SimEarth - The Living Planet” for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. I don’t know if there’s anyone out there in the world that’s cared enough to do so. I’ve never played the game myself. Maybe it just tells you the success rate in-game somewhere. You would have to ask Will Wright, or FCI, or god. Or learn to tear the game’s guts open and see for yourself by poking and prodding at it.
Given the available information, common enough that it’s worth your time to use the Monolith, but uncommon enough that savescumming is recommended, unless you have unlimited money. I’ll test it out to see the rough stats.
By my testing, the Monolith has roughly a 46.153% chance of success, with a sample size of 20 tests on various fish.
The game has a real Dwarf Fortress vibe to it.
at last: confirmation that the Monolith is not
always
successful
